If you need help right away, I suggest that you voluntarily go to Alcoholic Rehab as soon as possible like the person suggested above. You would not want your chain of command involved as they will probably force to see a medical psychologist, and they might even issue a physical profile for ‘Psych” and that stuff ends up in your permanent medical folder!
I have seen people receive general discharges for being alcoholics, it’s not fun. If you go to alcoholic rehab, I am confident it will remain anonymous. I believe alcoholic’s anonymous is set up that way in the military to allow for privacy, and if you go willingly, I doubt you will be reprimanded. People seek help for PTSD, alcoholism, gambling, etc. all the time. You are not the only one, and all it takes is a walk through the door.
