Question by SHELTIELUVER: Has anyone gone to a residental drug rehab center or known someone that has and would recommend it?
I desperately need to get into a drug rehab center but I’d like to go to a fairly nice one. The problem is that they’re so expensive! I need to go atleast 42-60 days and would be willing to pay around ,000 at the most. I’m looking for a place that has a gym and nice facilities and is in a tranquil setting that has had a lot of positive feedback. It doesn’t have to be in the United States.

You are making a common 1st mistake. You are putting conditions on getting clean & sober. Must have gym, nice facilities, etc. Getting clean must be the most important thing in your life and it doesn’t matter where you go as long as it works. Just my opinion. Good Luck!

Question by Jen W: Have you or someone close to you been to a drug rehab and where was it and would you recommend it?
I need help for a drug and alcohol problem. I know I’ve made the first step by admitting atleast I have a big problem. I’m very scared of detoxing but I can no longer live this way. I’ve lost interest in everything and my life is consumed by thinking of how I’ll get my next “high”. My drug of choice is opiates and they are awful to get off of. I have quit in the past (which was HELL!) but always returned. My family thinks that I should atleast go 90 days because the standard 28 days is just not long enough as I’ve been a user for around 15 years. I used to be very preety and I look terrible now. I’m constantly depressed. I also have some mental health issues that are worsened by my usage (severe anxiety, manic depression and OCD). Has anyone heard of Summerhouse Detox? I was thinking of detoxing there and maybe going somewhere in Canada for rehab (as it’s much cheaper). I would love to go the Cirque Lodge in Utah where Lindsay Lohan is going but it’s just too expensive!

Awww….poor kid! I feel for you! I am an ex-alcoholic, so I understand! I just woke up one day and said that’s it, I can’t do this another day and stopped. I didn’t need any professional help.

I’ve heard Hazelton in Minnesota is very good. This was some time ago, I think it’s still around. Lots of celebs go there too, so it may also be expensive, worth checking out though.

All my best to you!!

Nancala :)

Question by Lenny: Is it possible to petition the courts in New york State to mandate someone to a drug rehab .?
I have an adult son who is using drugs daily and refuses to consider rehab. I need to know if I can petition the courts to place him against his will. He’s a danger to himself and has been hospitalized many times because of his use of Angel Dust. He’s a danger to himself.

There are situations where it happens. Talk to the clerk of court or a family lawyer.

Question by Amanda: What’s it like visiting someone in drug rehab?
My boyfriend is at a 90-day residential drug rehab and wants me to visit him, he said I can stay the whole day, what’s it like? What will we do?

I can’t say for sure, since I’ve never had the experience. What you can do throughout the entire day is really up to the staff and whatever their policies and restrictions for visitors are.

Question by Chris: Doesn’t forcing someone into drug rehab just creat an opportunity for them to make new drug connections?
My friend was threatened with the option of going into drug rehab or jail.

Like jail, isn’t drug rehab just exposing you to more unsavory characters?

The only reason he was sent to rehab was because he was drug-tested and they found weed in his system. I know some doctors/lawyers who smoke pot often.

He’s probably alot safer in rehab than he would be in prison.

Question by nyeviolet: Is it possible to get someone involuntarily placed in alcohol rehab in Kansas?
We live in Kansas. My husband has a very severe alcohol addiction. He has decided that he is ready to seek help. However, we have no insurance, and not even enough income to cover our basic bills. How can we get help for him, when we have no money? Is there a way to have him involuntarily committed, that would get the state to pay for it? Serious answers only, please! I am going through enough without having to deal with a bunch of idiots!

Yes through a Court Order signed by a Judge with the comprehensive evaluation by a Medical Professional. You need to contact the Social Service Agency in your County and talk with them to determine if a program exists for Kansas Medicaid Payment.

Question by allana a: How will someone go about choosing a drug or alcohol rehab for a loved one?
I was just wondering about this since a friend of mine wants to suggest something to her parents so that they may be able to put their son in the right drug rehab. What are the factors to consider?

Best answer:

Answer by aimee 3xb
The first thing to consider would be the kind of program that the person will undergo. As every individual has different needs, the needs of your friend’s brother should be taken into account when picking a drug treatment program. The qualifications of the staff in the rehab are important too. Look into the medical credentials as well as the license gotten by the drug rehab. This will tell you if the drug rehab has met the standards set for providing quality care. Family counseling or other group therapy sessions should also be taken into account when choosing a program. It would also be good to get a treatment program that includes continuing care because this is the kind of treatment program that is usually effective.
