to quit or not to quit?

im 17 nearly 18 iv been smoking cannabis since 13 and its become very frequent in the last 2 or 3 years..basically been stoned 24/7 for that time..i quit last week but im literally going insane without it and getting drunk instead..cant sleep at all..having hot and cold flashes..im having violent irrational moodswings..breaking down in tears for no reason..it kept my mood under control..now i have nothing to do that i feel like i should go back on it?..im going to rehab in 3weeks time but it seems impossible to imagine no substances for 6weeks?..iv been diagnosed with depression and anxiety..but have never felt it up until iv quit..i know im self medicating but it really does work..it has its down sides..can make me very paranoid..and i cant smoke it in social situations..i really dont believe cannabis is good for anyone..but im not so sure about my case..iv tried anti depressants..they make me worse..this seems to be the only thing that works..to quit or not to quit?

I am addicted to oxycotton, I have been to rehab once, and I was back using a few weeks after I got out. It has been 2 years since rehab and my addiction has grown worse. Now I do ice, cocain, herion, extacy, etc and I’m shooting up all the time. The only thing I think about & look foward to everyday is shooting up oxycotton. I do not know anyone else but drug addicts so when I try to quit or get away I become lonely,bored, and over welmed by life and relapse. I have tried suboxone, specialised out patient treatment, drug tharapy and a.a meetings. I’m a good, young, smart, & attractive man; I believe in God and I want to live a good life. I have everything going for me but the drugs are holding me back & slowly killing me. Nothing seems to work I dunno what else to do. I want to quit, I’m sick and tired of the pain and suffering if I cant quite this time I know I will die.

I don’t believe in God, and am an alcoholic who would like to quit?

Everyone always says AA meetings etc. They mean nothing to me because I don’t believe in God. I was in rehab for 3 months and that is all they preach out of too, is the “big book” AA. It totally turns me off, I drank every weekend on my passes away. I just wonder does anyone know of any way to quit an addiction without hawing to refer to God or a Higher Power or anything? There has to be a way. Help
This is not a religious question, so please if all you have to say is about God or something please refrain. I have nothing against other peoples beliefs, to each their own, I just dont personally believe, and never will so please don’t try to convert me, or call me the devil, or say I’m going to hell. I am very comfortable with my beliefs, and am quite content with them. I am not ignorant on religion either, I have read the bible”s” more than once. I did my research and have chosen not to believe. Thank you.

Has anyone out there used Paxil or Seroxat for an extended period of time, and then quit successfully?

I am a 32 year-old male. I have an Anxiety Disorder. I have been taking Paxil 40mg/day for over 7 years. Paxil works well for me, but lately I have been considering trying to quit taking it. I want to see what I would be like without the medication. As I began to research quitting, I have found nothing but absolute horror stories about the withdrawel and addiction to the medication. It has really scared the #*&@ out of me. The really scary thing is that I now fear the very thing (Paxil) that helps me to not fear. Pretty ironic, really. Anyway, I would love to hear from anyone out there that has taken Paxil for an extended amount of time, and then quit successfully. Without any permanent nervous system damage or permanent withdrawel symptoms. I’m not planning on quitting anytime soon – and certainly not cold turkey. I would like to know that if I wanted to quit, I could. I’m very scared that having taking Paxil for so long, and at 40md/day, has caused permanent damage. Please help!
