Question by Lenny: Is it possible to petition the courts in New york State to mandate someone to a drug rehab .?
I have an adult son who is using drugs daily and refuses to consider rehab. I need to know if I can petition the courts to place him against his will. He’s a danger to himself and has been hospitalized many times because of his use of Angel Dust. He’s a danger to himself.

There are situations where it happens. Talk to the clerk of court or a family lawyer.

Question by nyeviolet: Is it possible to get someone involuntarily placed in alcohol rehab in Kansas?
We live in Kansas. My husband has a very severe alcohol addiction. He has decided that he is ready to seek help. However, we have no insurance, and not even enough income to cover our basic bills. How can we get help for him, when we have no money? Is there a way to have him involuntarily committed, that would get the state to pay for it? Serious answers only, please! I am going through enough without having to deal with a bunch of idiots!

Yes through a Court Order signed by a Judge with the comprehensive evaluation by a Medical Professional. You need to contact the Social Service Agency in your County and talk with them to determine if a program exists for Kansas Medicaid Payment.

Sorry this is long winded, but I want to give as much detail as possible.

My dog is a 4 year old Yellow Lab Mix.
He is a little overweight (77 lbs – medium to average Lab size in height).

The other day, he was fetching on a pebbly/rocky beach. I had him running hard and swimming for exercise. I noticed he was getting moody around the other dogs (which is unusual)… but it was a hot day and he was tired.

A fight broke out with a muscular Pit Bull. When they both lunged upward on their hind legs, my dog came down and started whimpering/crying like I’d never heard him before. I thought he’d been bitten… but see no swelling, bite marks, or bruises.

We hiked to the car and I could tell he was avoiding pressure on his left hind leg. Then, He couldn’t even jump into the car. He wouldn’t let me near him that night (which was very odd)… and wouldn’t eat.

The next day he seemed in pain, yet not as listless… and no limping (just avoiding pressure on the injured leg). So I waited a day to observe before going to the vet.

The next morning (as I got him ready for the vet), he was limping severely. Still no bruising, swelling, or bite marks. Nothing in the paw.

The Vet said—almost immediately, without examination—that he thought it was a “cruciate ligament injury or tear.” He did a physical test, but the knee did not flex like that of a tear.

The Vet gave a prescription of RIMADYL (75mg 2x/day) and said we should wait 2 weeks to take x-rays… then “we’ll talk surgery and rehab.”

My dog has been limping more since the vet did the “physical exam”, he even whimpers when he tries to squat for bowel movements. He will not even lift his leg to urinate.

After doing research online about, “cruciate ligament injuries/tears” and surgery… my heart is in my stomach. The process sounds horrible.

Does anyone know anything about this condition and surgery?
Is surgery absolutely necessary?
Will my dog be the same afterward (he’ll die if he could never fetch a tennis ball again… it’s his addiction)?
Are there any homeopathic alternatives?
Does this sound like it can be anything else?
Is there anything I can do, in the meantime, to comfort him?

Sorry, for all the questions… but this really is the most loyal, sweetest dog I’ve ever owned. I want to do what’s best.

OK…I have this thing for really needy, clingy chicks so I was thinking about the ultimate…junkies…Is it possible to fake a drug addiction and get myself checked into one of those rehab type places and maybe hook up with a few hot chicks while we “unbare our souls” to each other? How do you go about faking it?? I’ve been watching Intervention a lot trying to figure out the secrets to looking like an addict without actually using any drugs. Your thoughts or ideas would be appreciated

I think many Americans are starving themselves because of their daily reliance on white flour for sustenance, whether rich or poor. Does white flour inhibit good digestion of other more protein rich foods? (Look at all the protruding bellies.) I’m looking at something that indicated that in a report as follows:

“Conditions listing Kwashiorkor as a symptom may also be potential underlying causes of Kwashiorkor. Our database lists the following as having Kwashiorkor as a symptom of that condition:

Protein-calorie malnutrition: Causes and incidence
(Professional Guide to Diseases (Eighth Edition))
Both kwashiorkor (edematous PCM) and marasmus (nonedematous PCM) are common in underdeveloped countries and in areas in which dietary amino acid
content is insufficient to satisfy growth requirements. Kwashiorkor typically occurs at about age 1, after infants are weaned from breast milk to a protein-deficient diet of starchy gruels or sugar water, but it can develop at any time during the formative years. Marasmus affects infants ages 6 to 18 months as a result of breast-feeding failure, or a debilitating condition such as chronic diarrhea.
In industrialized countries, PCM may occur secondary to chronic metabolic disease that decreases protein and calorie intake or absorption, or trauma that increases protein and calorie requirements. In the United States, PCM is estimated to occur to some extent in 50% of elderly people in nursing homes. Those who aren’t allowed anything by mouth for an extended period are at high risk of developing PCM. Conditions that increase protein-calorie requirements include severe burns and injuries, systemic infections, and cancer (accounts for the largest group of hospitalized patients with PCM). Conditions that cause defective utilization of nutrients include malabsorption syndrome, short-bowel syndrome, and Crohn’s disease.

This has nothing to do with homosexuality or exhibitionism. I am completely hetero and do not desire to show my privates, I just find wearing “speedos”, squarecuts, nylon-tricot jogging shorts and shorts with a 3 to 4 inch inseam to be far more comfortable than what is now “in style” for men these days. Unlike addictions such as alcoholism, narcotics, gambling and pornography, I see no harm except for the negative social side effects of wearing these items. Can’t publically wear these items without the half-hidden giggles, scowls and cat calls so it has turned me into something of a recluse. Just wondering if there was an actual name to this “condition”. Seems like woman can devulge in this with no problem, an entire section in Wal-Mart is devoted to this and there’s Victorias Secret – it’s just a big faux pas for straight men.
Just have to add this has nothing do with cross-dressing, transvestitism or any of that. I’m a man and not ashamed of it. I just wish I could wear a little less when swimming and around the yard without all the negative vibes. Not sure but I may have an OCD.

Hello, I’m a freshman attending a university. At first, I did not want to because community college is cheaper, but I had a free ride to the university (UC school in California, won’t name it due to confidentiality). Anyway, I am wondering if it’s possible to transfer from a university to a community college for sophomore year.

I intend to get an AA in Nursing or other medical related field then finish up a BA/BS in Psychology. Is this possible? To get a BA totally unrelated to your AA?

Thank you very much.
