Question by Everyones Entitled To My Opinion: How can I stop being lazy after giving up illegal drugs?
I have just recently decided to quit doing a wide range of illegal activities and I am trying to improve myself. I have quit narcotics, marijuana and cigarettes. Although, I am very proud that I am taking this journey to recovery, I have became very lazy and have no motivation. I am starting to feel very sad about giving up my awful habbits, but I know I am doing the right thing. The question is, can you give me some advice on how to become more motivated and some advice that will get me going, or suggestions on how to get more active.

Question by Michelle: What happens when a patient tells their counselor they did something illegal, like having used illicit drugs?
Do counselors or other mental health professionals have to keep EVERYTHING you say confidential? Are their exceptions to this? Assuming the patient is an adult and the focus of their mental health treatment is not drug related. Could their counselor/Psychiatrist/etc report them to the police? Testify in court? Would this be recorded in their medical record? If they are currently being prescribed potentially addictive medications and admitted to occasional use of street drugs would they be forced to stop taking these medications? Thanks!

**update* * I understand the legal part better but is this bad to have on my medical records. If everything is supposed to be kept confidential, but when seeing a new Dr. they make me sign that release to see prior treatment information from other drs. I understand concerns about coordination of care and interactions, etc. My new Dr. refused to fill 2 of my (potentially addictive) meds. She quoted my medical record, my ex told (incorrect) info to a previous Dr. Help!

Wow that’s some good paranoia. The counselor is there to help, not play crime fighter plus the “crimes” committed with drug use are too non specific. Its the same reason that cops need to have drug busts with lots of evidence. Was it weed?

he has been my close friend since the 8th grade.. now we are 20 yrs old.. he recently started drugs around 2 months ago.. he has been smoking crack cocaine.. for the last two months he had remained aloof.. he would not talk to anyone.. never picked up the phone .. then after my constant nagging he gave in and told me about the drugs.. it seems he has even been selling his textbooks for the money.. he does not want me to tell his parents because he is scared that they may take him out of college and screw him badly.. i am now confused.. i know he is in desperate need for help .. i want him to go to rehab but he says that he is gonna gradually taper off it until he does not need it anymore.. but i know coming outta drugs is not that easy without external support.. he has become thinner and is also losing hair from his body.. please people give me some advice..

I am addicted to oxycotton, I have been to rehab once, and I was back using a few weeks after I got out. It has been 2 years since rehab and my addiction has grown worse. Now I do ice, cocain, herion, extacy, etc and I’m shooting up all the time. The only thing I think about & look foward to everyday is shooting up oxycotton. I do not know anyone else but drug addicts so when I try to quit or get away I become lonely, bored, and over welmed by life and relapse. I have tried suboxone, specialised out patient treatment, drug tharapy and a.a meetings. I’m a good, young, smart, & attractive man; I believe in God and I want to live a good life. I have everything going for me but the drugs are holding me back & slowly killing me. Nothing seems to work I dunno what else to do. I want to quit, I’m sick and tired of the pain and suffering if I cant quite this time I know I will die.

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/Whistleblower_breaks_15year_silence_to_allege_0911.html

Tom Gosinski, a former employee of the medical-aid charity Cindy McCain used as personal supplier of Percocet and Vicodin, is speaking out publicly for the first time.

He says he can’t buy the official McCain camp line that Cindy’s drug abuse was kept from her husband, he saw and heard too much for any of their stories to make sense — like the time Cindy was allegedly taken to the hospital after an overdose and John rushed in to berate the doctors and nurses there before moving Cindy to their secluded Sedona ranch. Then there were the Hensley family interventions and the fact that Cindy’s drug abuse came to be something of an open secret among employees of the charity.
