Question by diiamond giirl: Can my dad get disability while in alcohol rehab?
i just need to know for the sake of my mom and 2 young sisters.

Best answer:

Answer by essentiallysolo
alcoholism is not considered a disability because there is a cure. The government pretty much sees it as a self inflicted ailment and will not pay disability for self inflicted problems.

Question by MeowMeow: Has anyone ever had any experience with the Kaiser Alcohol Rehab program?
If so what are your Pro’s and Con’s?? Is it something you habe to be referred to?

Best answer:

Answer by gunter_hallowgreen
Because there are several centers out there with the name it is difficult to give a specific answer to this question.

But basically people cannot change what they don’t acknowledge, so if a doctor refers a person to a rehab program, please do an intervention with the help of family and friends before entering the program.

If the person going to the program is juvenile make sure that you have done a family conference at home before leaving. Do not hire a transport company. You will only risk having a child returning with PTSD. So while curing the addiction you will have another problem to face.

Second of all. Avoid programs using 12 steps if the person going to the program doesn’t recognize the problem. Especially if we are talking about a minor. If the person is not yourself you cannot for sure know how bad the problem is and you risk that the person becomes an abuser just by being forced through the first step and listening to the problems from the rest of the group during group therapy. It is something by taking on an identity. Youth seek identities all the time. If the youth takes on an identity as an addicted person you can be sure that it will result in a relapse at some point.

Please give us a link, so a more specific answer can be given.

You can check the yellow pages. There’ll surely be a list there of the alcohol rehabs near your area. You can also ask a doctor or healthcare provider for recommendations, or call a helpline like 800-559-9503. The people there will be able to help you with your search. Check out the links that I’ve included below too. :) Good luck on your search!

Question by : Can the uninsured and unemployed go to alcohol rehab too?
Ok, I am 20 years old now and I am no longer in denial of being an alcoholic. I realize it now. My life is so messed up and I want to change before things get even worse. The only problem is that now I am jobless again due to my alcoholism and I am close to broke. Do rehabs accept people with no insurance or a job even? Thank you…..

Everyone should know what to expect from alcohol detox, there are some critical factors. First is, part of being safe is being comfortable if your not comfortable, it’s an indicator that probably your not safe. When your having withdrawal symptoms in all it feels bad but actually it’s telling you that your body is being damage and if being damage this is going to hurt you not only now but also for the future. The worst detox is actually cause major damage to the brain and it advances your alcoholism and makes you have the higher risk of relapse in the future, makes any future detox much more difficult and much more dangerous. So you should expect to be comfortable in your detox process if your not comfortable you need to tell somebody, a medical professional especially so that they can make adjustments. Adjustments for alcohol detox can be made easily. There is no purpose or benefit in toughing it out it will only hurt you and hurt your future. People should also expect to detox around 7-14 days or maybe longer depending on how long their history is, if you try to cut it short your just going to hurt yourself. You may still have withdrawal symptoms which is a major trigger to relapse or you can have major complications like a seizure. Most detoxes are cut short by insurance companies and hospitals and if that is a case for you make sure you seek medical help right after you leave the hospital so you could finish your detox with a medical professional as an outpatient
