I am a 20 year old college student at the University of Arizona. I have the coolest girlfriend a man can ask for and I enjoy stuff like partying, hang gliding, traveling and jet skiing. But what no one close to me knows about is the fact that I have an addiction for anime. I don’t want anybody to know about it. But if I was caught watching it I wouldn’t deny it you know. I was just curious to see how many people who watch or read the manga keep it a secret among the people they know. Im sure if my friends found out they wont stop being my friends. It’s just a fact that people will give crap when the opportunity is there you know. And I don’t care to hear it. The point to the beginning was to tell you that i am one of the last people that you would guess to like anime.

Well, I don’t really get what you’re saying, actually. Are you depressed with keeping this a secret, or are you perfectly happy tumbling through life never revealing that part of your personality? Hmmm…

Honestly, your friends should be able to except you for who you are. I have friends who obsess over anime, and I have friends who hate it when i talk about anime around them. The truth is they are bound to like some things that you don’t like. You should put aside your differences if they don’t like anime. Liking something your friend doesn’t like isn’t a good reason to stop being friends. Besides most otakus are quite nice! If you come out of your shell then you could make a lot of new friends.

well, it shouldn’t stop you from watching though. there’s nothing wrong in liking anime. What you need is to know who you should talk about it. Try telling your friends that you like anime and who knows maybe they like it too. But if not then when you talk about it then talk to them with discretion since they are really not into it.

It gets kinda lonely if you don’t have someone to talk about your views on anime so I also suggest finding people whoa re into it. I’m the only girl in my class who likes anime both for shoujo and shonen and it gets depressing when you’ll just clam up. i talk to my non-liking friends about anime and they don’t really mind since all of us have our own obsessions. you can’t avoid jokes about it either but hey as long as you’re happy watching then what do they care.
