I know I’m addicted to food. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to cope with it without seeing a specialist.

put duct tape over your whole face for a month.
Limit how much food you have access to. Seriously, if it’s not there you can’t eat it.
Stop Eating
No, see your GP, he will get you some help !
get addicted to the healthier foods, not the unhealthy ones.
Stop stocking your pantry with the unwanted stuff. Only buy enough food for a week, and force yourself not to go back to the store. That way you have to ration your food to a healthy amount. Don’t starve yourself. Just restrain yourself.
look at movie: Super Size Me

Put down the fork…FACE!!
u could get someone to keep an eye on u or u could have someone put a lock on the fridge and u can call them to unlock it for u when ur ready for a full meal.
keep your mind of of it
Find things to do, usually people eat when they are bored or feeling blue. If you replace the time you have where you aren’t busy with exercise you will burn off weight you don’t want & also not have the chance to put more on as quick since you are exercising.
Good luck.
when ever you want to eat think of your grandma nude rolling around in live cockroaches
eat FRUIT, they’re SO good and run around the block if you’re a little overweight
drink more, eat less
Eat healthy food but in small amounts. Don’t focus on what you are missing, focus on what you are having (just in smaller doses). Try to find something that you can use to replace your addition — hopefully something healthy that will bring you great passion and satisfaction. Intimacy might be one idea, for example.
Ask you doctor. There are many different medicines that are recommended to make you feel full and unable to fill your stomach while just eating a little bit of food.
contrary to what pharmaceuticals companies/psychologists who want to make $$$$$ , want you to believe……….there is nothing wrong with addiction, as long as it is a productive addiction.
channel that addictive personality into something else. find a passion. something you can do for hours but feel like minutes.
do u like music? take up an instrument. do u like swimming? do you like arts and crafts? the most successful people in the world have very addictive personalties. in order to be a great musician you have to play one line of a sonata, at least 4 hours straight, in order to get it right. be happy you have that kind of drive in you. just find something more positive to channel it in.
you deserve positivity. you deserve THE BEST!
Whenever you feel like eating outside of a meal.. do
something you like to do. Like for me, i would go out-
side and shoot hoops or something. Or if your a christian
you could fast, ive done this its really nice actually. You
do it for about a week or however long, you fast from some
thing your addicted to. Whenever you have the erge to do
or eat it.. then you go pray or read something out of the bible.
:) good luck. hope i helped.. for your situation i would recomend
the first idea i gave you..
I struggle with the same problem, and I so feel your pain. Here’s some tips that I do that helps me not think about food and/or eat better: 1) Realize that food is not your friend; it is merely there to sustain your body and provide you with energy. This is the way you should look at food. 2) Drink water all day, every day. Don’t drink anything else; this includes not drinking diet coke, crystal light, diet green tea, etc. The only other thing you should drink is coffee if you really need it. 3) Eat lots of complex carbohydrates and proteins; fish, nuts, eggs (I prefer egg whites), whole grains (<– they are excellent for you), and lean meats such as turkey and ham. 4) Weigh yourself every single day at the same time with the same conditions. Write down that day, time, and weight and keep track of your progress. If you follow the tips above, you should begin to see a decrease in weight. This will encourage you not to blow it by eating junk food. 5) Make sure that you are constantly controlling your portions. This is very important especially since us over eaters tend to not put down the fork until every last drop of food is gone. Eat slowly and in small bites, that way your body can recognize you are full. When you are full – not stuffed, but full – put the fork down and put your napkin on top of your plate. I know it sounds silly but it actually works. 6) This is the most important thing: There’s not one person in the world who doesn’t crave a certain food. If you absolutely must have something, then have it; no meal plan will work if you are constantly depriving yourself. However, try not to do this very often, at most 2 – 3 times a week. Also, have a smaller portion of that thing. Split the desert. Order the small scoop instead of the large. It’s very surprising how little things like that can make a big difference. My only other advice to you is, if you are still struggling, or if you’re feeling sick or bad in any way (besides maybe hungry) then I would consult a specialist, because they do know what they are doing.
