I have this problem with spending, after a LOT of internet research, I was surprised to find it’s an actual disorder that happens to lots of people… (I thought it was just me) …

I don’t use credit cards, I use my debit card, BUT I do spend my student loan money on irrelevant junk… (or awesome things that I really really wanted) … I bought a PS3 last summer and it stayed in its box for 2 months (hidden) then in my sister’s room for a while, then made its “debut” into the household a couple weeks ago…

I hide a lot of the stuff I buy, and I don’t use a lot of the stuff I buy…

I can’t help it, when it happens… I don’t realize what’s going on ’til after I see the “estimated arrival date” on the shipping page… (I do pretty much all of it online, BUT I do my fair share when in the mall too) … … … last week I spent almost $2,000 on christmas presents for people… and I NEED that money (it was the last of what I had) for next semester’s tuition… (I actually need 3 or 4 times that)

Any advice? Systems? etc??

And please, don’t be rude, it’s a real disorder, just like alcoholism or a drug addiction… I’m TRYING to stop, but its really hard… :(
Bex:

I thought of that… BUT I have to get a referral from my “regular doctor” to get therapy, and since I still live at home my parents are sort of the “masters” of all that stuff (plus I have a phobia of driving, so I can’t GET to the doctor’s office OR a therapist’s office either way)

I consider myself “completely screwed”…
